Blog Entries on the New Season:
"SELKIE'S STARTER GUIDE TO THE 2005 FALL TV SEASON" by someone called Selkie.
"i have studied and researched and watched baby-mini-clips of many of the new shows for the fall 2005-05 tv season. i have determined exactly which pilots will get an official selkie screening. bear in mind that i have not seen an actual episode of anything, so some shows might actually suck when watched completely. that was my disclaimer."

"TV: Fall Season 2005 Previews: Fox, CBS, NBC & ABC, WB & UPN" by tomthedog.
NBC: "E-Ring" - "is doomed."
NBC: "Fathom" aka "Surface" - "will fold after six episodes."
ABC: "What About Brian" - to similar to it's lead in "Jake in Progress"
ABC: "Commander-in-Chief" - "shyeah, that'll be a hit."
CBS: "Out of Practice" - don't count on it lasting because it has Paula Marshall in it: "she has killed every show she's ever been in stone cold dead."
FOX: "Kitchen Confidential" - based on a real chef, but changed his first name & looking at the cast photo - "check out Nicholas Brendon in the cast picture. Now, I don't want to go making snap judgments on a show I haven't even seen yet, but if his character isn't gay, I will give each one of you a shiny new nickel"
FOX: "Prison Break" - looks "dopey, but interesting premise for a mini-series," but not as a series.
FOX: "The Loop" & "The Gate" - "which will surely be the finest crime drama set in San Francisco since Nash Bridges."
WB: "Just Legal" - has to be a temp title. "Are they seriously thinking of airing a show whose title is strongly reminiscent of almost-underage porn?"
WB: "Supernatural" - "McG is involved? I'm out! Get thee behind me, McG!"
UPN: "Sex, Lies & Serects" aka Sex, Love & Secrets - "I guess it is fresh and edgy for the "something" in "twenty-something" to mean "fourteen"."

"Prison Break: A Potential Breakout Hit for Fox Television" by Raymond Tomlin. Examination and links to USA Today article and Zap2it.com article.

"TV: Prison Break" review by tomthedog: "the most praise I can muster is, it could've been worse. Prison Break is just ridiculous. It's just mind-jarringly, staggeringly ridiculous. But if you can kind of squint and pretend you don't see all the stupid malarkey, it's not that bad."

"TV: Rome" review by tomthedog: "Bloody and sexy and undeniably epic, Rome is another win for HBO. It's not Deadwood, or The Sopranos, but it's a tremendous achievement nonetheless. "Not the best HBO has to offer" still means "better than almost anything on television."

Comments:
Man, you sound almost as obsessed with TV as I am! I should say all those judgments about the new Fall shows are completely unfair assessments based only on the shows' websites. And I didn't bother mentioning most of the ones that actually look good. Mainly because it's funnier to be negative. Maybe I should write a post where I'm positive for a change.

No need to be positive, that's why Television without pity.com is such a popular website.

Obsessed with TV? Yes, until I find out about the show, then I'm just as likely to skip first run material to watch shows on DVD, and: during the 2005 spring tv season, April 2005 on, I basically missed most of the tv shows airing the same time the Nationals were playing at home.

There is a limited number of shows that I'm interested in, and they always seem to be on opposite each other.
